Auntie Mary

A Beautiful Soul

A welcoming smile, a meaningful hug, a revolving door
At one point or another a mother to us all
A listening ear, wise advice, a warm bed or a cuppa
If auntie Mary had it to give - it was always on offer
A genuine lady without a bad bone and a heart full of gold
I’m sure all agree when I say they truly broke the mould
A wonderful, devoted mother to her two precious girls
A sister, an Auntie, a grandma & great grandma, to all she meant the world
My godmother was a special lady and her aura was divine
I only wish as so many do that I’d only made more time
We tend to think that people will always be there
Maybe because any other thought is too much to bear
We never considered that you wouldn’t be on the other end of the phone
Not thinking for a moment that you would be anywhere but home
Now here we are today
And things are not the same
The birds don’t sing or sound nearly as sweet as they could
The sun is duller and no longer shines like it should
The world continues but never again will it be the same
The loss of such a beautiful soul could never be explained
Every thought, every whisper, every scream and every tear
Is our hearts calling out, wishing that you were still here
But knowing that you finally get to rest is a small relief
We love you and you will be forever missed, our sweet angel;
Auntie Mary may you rest in peace xxx
